FlixBus launches in Canada

FlixBus is a German-based tech company that currently partners with local bus companies in 37 countries.

They launched operations in Canada this month with three initial intercity routes in Ontario: Niagara Falls – Toronto, Toronto – Ottawa, and Toronto – Waterloo.

From personal experience, even before Greyhound left the Canadian market, Megabus has normally been the best lower priced option for the same destinations, especially when pre-booking in advance.

I live in Ontario and did check out the FlixBus app – there are far fewer departure times, but pricing is competitive with Megabus and other transportation options like GO Transit and VIA Rail.

It is important to note where to board the bus at the respective cities when booking your trip for the first time. I noticed Toronto’s stop is not at the city’s official bus terminal and the stop in Niagara Falls is outside a hotel in one of tourist districts.
