I was at a Dollar Tree in my local plaza recently where I noticed they had racks with bread, bagels and hotdog buns.
Up until then, I didn’t know dollar stores sold perishables like bread.
There were various brands including Dempsters and Country Harvest, which are regularily priced in the $1.99-$3.50 range at supermarkets.
At the standard Dollar Tree price of $1.25, it’s a good buy – especially if your family goes through a few loaves a week.
The cashier informed me that their bread shipment is delivered weekly, and is usually all sold out within a few days.
Update 2021-02-07:
Inflation alert!
I visited to pick up some more bread today, and noticed new $1.50 price stickers on a variety of products including the bread.
